Interviews in the Clouds

August 21, 2015

CLOUDS is an interactive documentary exploring art and code by James George and Jonathan Minard. On one side the interviews with people Like Golan Levin or Kyle McDonald are very inspiring, on the other side all the content is wrapped up in an interactive form that makes it possible for the viewer to change the perspective and explore all the beauty of code. Great Stuff!

Routines, Creativity and Productivity

May 5, 2015

The last days I was reading this book my parents got me for my birthday. It’s all about the daily routines of creative people. Really entertaining and inspiring.

Daily Rituals: How Artists Work

Also interesting in this context ist the january edition of «Das Magazin» giving various examples of lists. Like this one by inventor Thomas Alva Edison:

Closing the Gap

August 29, 2014

I spent the last two days at frontend conference in Zurich. Lots of interesting, nerdy and inspiring stuff!

In his talk “Mind the Gap”, Simon Raess pointed out a video about the gap between creative ambition and the actual outcome. I read these words before, but I didn’t know it was Ira Glass who came up with those very encouraging sentences:

Leaving Traces in Mexico

August 15, 2014

Recently my GIF tumblr called «Charcuterie Visuelle» got a little feature on Alternopolis, a web magazine on digital culture, art, design and technology.

Although my spanish isn’t nearly close to good, I still was really pleased that they noticed my GIFs via the Giphoscope Award.

You can find my latest creations on tumblr:

A whole new Look for my Portfolio

May 7, 2014

Finally my website received a complete makeover! WordPress is definitely the perfect CMS for my portfolio which features some selected works. I use the gridly theme which was really easy to implement and adjust according to my needs. A big thank you to Eleven Themes for making this theme available for free!

mlcom_layout

I slightly tweaked the look of gridly. Basically it’s just CSS and Javascript combined with some custom PHP page templates. Besides my portfolio which is divided into the categories «coding», «moving» and «web», there is a blog and a «hello» page. You already found the blog where I post some of my sideprojects and experiments. «hello» is just some kind of link collection of stuff I like.

From Vienna with Love

April 27, 2013

I love moving images and I love creating animated stuff with my computer, but creating by software sometimes makes me feel limited to the screen. Alltough it was quite a bit of work to assemble a flipbook for my girlfriends birthday, I was thrilled to see one of my animations running physically in her hands.

The short animation is an invitation to a citytrip to vienna in 72 frames:
